Pepe de Lucía, Andalusia 2021´s Medal

Pepe de Lucía will receive on February 28, the day of the Andalusian community, the Medal of Andalusia, which the Board awards each year on the occasion of this festival. "I feel Andalusian on all four sides and from Algeciras, to which I owe everything I am," said the Algerian cantaor on Canal Sur TV after learning of the award of this award. At 75, he recently published, after more than a decade, 'A new universe', his latest album, produced by Alejandro Sanz.

This medal is a recognition of more than sixty years of musical career of the singer from Algeciras, who began in the art world as a child with his brother Paco de Lucía in the duo Los Chiquitos de Algeciras. Later he would accompany him as a cantaor when Paco obtained national and international recognition. He also worked with other flamenco greats such as José Greco, Antonio El Bailarín and Antonio Gades.
