20th Grammy Awards
The 20th Grammy Awards, finally, include the Best Flamenco Music Album category
20th Grammy Awards
The first news of the 20th annual Latin Grammy ceremony announced the suspension of the category of Best Flamenco Music Album. Unexpected news and a setback for the " Jondo" art that lost its representation in these important awards. In addition, it was the first time that this happened in the 20-year history of these prestigious Latin music awards.
The reason alleged was that not enough candidacies had been presented, taking into account that the minimum is 25.
But the reality is now totally different, there are already more than 25 candidates necessary to maintain the category, and all this, thanks to the promotional work begun by the SGAE and its Foundation, has enabled flamenco to recover its specific award at the Latin Grammy

Blanca del Rey: The importance of the Tablao
Blanca del Rey: «In the tablao we can see our hair right away»
Blanca del Rey
"Without them, the development of flamenco is not understood," says the Cordoba dancer.
Blanca del Rey, the bailaora who made the shawl her dance partner and who turned her soleá into a genre of her own, has broken many shoes in the woods of the tablaos - fundamentally, in the Corral de la Morería, who runs alongside with his children, Juan Manuel and Armando - but he has also worn many heels in the most important theaters in the world. Therefore, she knows what she is talking about when she assures that «for a flamenco artist it is essential to go through a tablao; the artists themselves know this. And I'm not the only one to say it, great artists say it, like Antonio Gades. If an artist doesn't fall in love in a tablao, turn it off and let's go. In the tablao you see your hair very soon ».
